Rob turned from the bar and motioned for us to push through to join him. “Jägerbombs!” he yelled over the music. “Doesn’t Jäger have human blood in it?” Elizabeth questioned innocently. The four of us shared an exasperated look as we tried to hold back our laughter. Was she really that naïve? Apparently so. I shook my head in complete and utter disbelief. “What?” she questioned. “I heard someone talk about it once in high school. They said something about it being blood…” Yep, she truly was that innocent. Poor thing had yet to taste the pure deliciousness of Jäger. “Liz,” Emma said calmly with a smile on her face, “do you honestly think that the federal government would allow people to drink human blood in their liquor?” Elizabeth paused for a moment. She bit her lip as she thought. I smiled at her naivety. It was endearing nonetheless. “Well when you say it like that…” she muttered, her face flushing with embarrassment. “It’s just deer blood, Liz,” Rob added, nodding to the shot glasses in his hands. “See, I knew I’d heard something about blood!” She must have felt better about her mistake as she yelled over the club music. She laughed before grabbing her shot glass from the bar. “What else is in it?” “Quit asking questions, Half-Pint, live it up a little bit.” I spoke as I squeezed past her for my glass.

Support Braden's Hope

Hey y'all check out this amazing thing Katie Mettner is doing to raise money for Braden's Hope.
Braden is a STRONG little man that I pray for him and his family often.
I couldn't imagine what he and his family go through everyday.
Ok trying not to cry just read all Katie has to say below!
<3 Hugs

Anyone who has read my stories knows just how much I believe in there being a reason for everything. I struggle with some of them, and I certainly don't like a good number of them, but I always look for that reason. When I learned about Braden Hofen and his mom Deliece, I found myself really struggling with the reasons. A little boy, only 9 years old, and already battling cancer, twice? What's fair about that, Lord? What are your reasons for that? Then I got to know Deliece and Braden, and I saw all His reasons wrapped in the smile of a little boy. A little boy who really doesn't care that he has cancer, because to him cancer doesn't exist. I see his mother and father, who know cancer exists and who know what cancer can do to their child, and they fight. They fight hard, to raise funds for grants to research treatments for childhood cancer, because there isn't enough being done! Braden's Hope is changing the world of so many young cancer patients all because the Lord knew who could shoulder this burden, and do it with dignity and with HOPE. When I think about this week I think about being thankful, and I am thankful for The Hofens! I have never met these brave warriors in person, but when I look at my own children I think of them every single time. Every time I look at my children I know if they ever were diagnosed with cancer, the path little Braden has had to walk, has laid the groundwork for potential treatments that could help my child, or yours, or your grandchildren or nieces or nephews. So, to express my thanks for all they have done for the little warriors, the week of November 25th through 31st, the proceeds from the purchase of any of my books will benefit Braden's Hope For Childhood Cancer. Thank you for supporting Braden’s Hope and the groundbreaking work they have embarked on, all because they have HOPE. Thursday, when I sit down with my own family, I will say a prayer of thanks and then say “Take that cANCER! You didn't get this Thanksgiving, the Hofen's did!”
God bless the warriors.

As a young adult Katie enjoyed ballroom dancing and like Sugar she didn’t let her physical limitations hold her back from what she loved. Katie writes The Sugar Series, Sugar’s Dance and Sugar’s Song, a Christian romance series. Her stories are a reflection of her love for family intricately woven with life experience. When the gales of November blow early you can find her at the computer with a cup of joe, listening to Michael Bublé and working

Delicious Taste
Ghost drives down Andrea’s street in his black new pickup. He parks a few houses down. He leaves the truck running. He leans back into his seat, gripping the steering wheel. He’s wearing black sunglasses.
Damn, I don’t like where my sweet Darlin lives. Those bastards down the street are up to no good, thinks Nathan. He grabs his cell and quickly texts Andrea that he’s waiting.
“Ghost this is a bad part of Los Angles. We need to hurry. We need to leave as soon as she’s here,” says Loco. He has his shades on and looks down the corner at the hoods gathering around a table, drinking. “Where does she live?”
“She lives down the street on the right in that yellow house. The one across from the hoods,” replies Nathan.
A few yards away from Nathan are some young boys playing with the basketball. They look at Nathan and his truck.
Andrea leaves her house and walks down the steps. She’s carrying her bag. She’s wearing her cute red dress, sexy black sandals and her shiny black hair loose down her back. She stops on the sidewalk. She grabs her sunglasses out of her purse and quickly slides them on. She looks down the street and smiles. Oh yeah, my Baby is waiting, she thinks.

Marcos takes a drink of his Corona. He’s a handsome young man that’s used to having the girls fall at his feet. He’s wearing crisp cotton grey slacks with a white fitted shirt, and black shoes. He has one leg on top of bench. His buddies surround him, playing cards on the table. .
He looks at the house across the street. Yeah, I have to talk to her. I need to get her into my arms. She’s a sweet pussy, thinks Marcos. He continues to wait for Andrea to step out of her house.
Damn yes, Andrea just came out of her house. This is my sweet opportunity to talk to her. Marcos leaves his buddies and strides across the street towards Andrea.
“Andrea you look beautiful,” says Marcos, smiling. He has his Corona in his hand. “When are you going to talk to me? I want to take you out.”
He stands on the curb, looking at her. He licks his lips. “Andrea you have me crazy for you.”
Andrea turns to look at him and turns away. She starts striding quickly down the street towards Nathan.
Marcos sees her walk away and this infuriates him. What’s her fucking problem? Does she think she’s too good for me, thinks Marcos.
He throws his Corona in the ground and starts following her with determination. That pussy is going to be mine. The boss wants her. She will bring in lots of money. I already have a list of clients waiting for her.
Andrea walks quickly, trying to reach Nathan. Damn I have to ignore him. I’m almost there, thinks Andrea, anxiously. She bites her lower lip with fear. Damn I’m so glad that my Baby is here. He’s so big and strong.
Marcos runs after her and grasps her arm. “Fucking bitch, what’s wrong with you! You’re always ignoring me. You think you’re too good for me!” yells Marcos. He pulls her close to him, glaring down at her.
Andrea yells with fear, her eyes expand. She trembles, her complexion turn white. She moves to take his hand off of her. “Let me go Marcos!” she yells.
* * *

“There she is, my Darlin girl,” whispers Nathan, smiling. He glances over at Loco.
“Yeah that’s her,” says Loco, laughing at Nathan. “Yeah brother your pussy whipped.”
Nathan watches her stop and slides her glasses on. He then watches Marcos walk over to her. Nathan grasps the steering wheel with anger. “What the fuck does that asshole want with her,” says Nathan. He watches closely to see if she’s going to talk to him.
Oh yeah, she’s not giving him the time of day, thinks Nathan. He smiles, and then he sees red when he sees him run after her and grabs her arm.
That son of bitch!” yells Nathan. He jumps out of the truck. He sprints the few yards down the street, pounding into the asphalt, towards Andrea. His heart pounds hard in his chest, full of anger, anxiety, and the extreme urgency to get her away from him. He reaches Andrea and pulls her away from him.
“Mother fucker what in the hell do you think you’re doing. Don’t touch my woman,” growls Nathan. He glares down at Marcos.
“Hot Dang! Whup his ass!” yells Loco. He jumps out of the truck and runs after him. He stops right behind them.
He watches Marcos buddies start to run over. Oh hell this is going to get ugly, he thinks. They’re only six. Yeah it’ll take only a few minutes to calm these assholes down.
Loco looks at them line up behind Marcos. Hmm these pups are going to get their ass whup, he thinks. Loco grins at them.
“Puto (male whore), she’s your woman, and since when? The last time I checked this pussy didn’t have an owner,” says Marcos, smirking. Yeah I love this, this pussy has an owner. Now I’m going to enjoy taking her form him, thinks Marcos.
“Fucking asshole, don’t every talk to her or about her like that! She’s a lady!” yells Nathan, turning red. He’s blood boils with anger.
“Darlin go to my truck,” says Nathan, softly to Andrea. Not losing sight of Marcos. “I’ll be there in a few.”
Andrea is shaking with fear. Omg Marcos is crazy. He’s so vulgar, thinks Andrea.
She strides quickly to the truck, gripping her bag tight. She opens the door, throws her bag in the rear seat, and slides into the middle of the bench seat. She stares at them, trembling with fear. She moves a strand of hair from her eyes and sets it behind her ear. She whips the tears from her eyes biting her lower lip.
Omg, what if my Baby wasn’t here to protect me. He would have taken me, she thinks, shuddering.
Andreas’s little brother Raul stands near the bushes hiding. He’s shaking with fear. That mean Marcos wants my sister Andrea. I’m so scared of him. Who are these huge men? That white man is picking up my sister Andrea, thinks Raul.
Loco is ready to fight, he monitors their actions. These bastards don’t know who they’re messing with, he thinks.
Nathan takes a few steps forward and stops right in front of Marcos face. He looks down and glares at him enraged. “Fucking asshole, I’m going to tell you once. I’m going to kill you if you go near her again. Don’t ever look or touch her again,” says Nathan, softly. He grinds his jaw, the muscle flexing from the pressure.
Nathan is a good eight inches taller than Marcos. He towers over all of his buddies. He’s an imposing man. Marcos buddies eye Nathan and then glance over at Loco.
Loco stands with his feet spread out and ready to fight. His huge hands are fisted. He smiles at them and winks. Oh yeah, they’re going to be my girlfriends, thinks Loco.
“Puto, I’m telling you now, I’m taking her from you,” growls Marcos. He stares Nathan down. “Don’t look away because I will kill you.”
“You’re dead,” growls Nathan.
“You gay mother fucker,” yells Marcos, smirking. “I’m ready anytime to fuck you. You’re going to me my puto.”
“You little roach, you really want to die,” growls Nathan. His growl vibrates deep in his throat.
“I’m going to kill you!” yells Marcos. Marcos pulls out his blade and takes a stab at Nathan.
Nathan quickly grabs his hand and twists it behind him. He pulls Marcos arm up his back. Nathan wraps his arm around his neck and pulls him against his chest. He forces Marcos to release the blade.
“Fucking roach, I’m going to whup your ass. Yeah I’m looking forward to ass whupping time,” whispers Nathan.
Loco quickly kicks the blade and glares at Marcos buddies. Then he grins and winks at them.
Nathan pulls his arm further up and hears the bone crack.
Marcos yells out in pain and sways from the pain.
Nathan grins at Marcos buddies. “Music to my ears,” whispers Nathan. He shoves Marcos into his buddies.
Marcos buddies move to catch him. They glare at Nathan and Loco. They’re too scared to even try to fight them. One yells at Nathan. “Gringo (white guy) we’re going to hunt you down and kill you. That pussy is ours,” yells a tall thin bastard.
Nathan glares at him and walks over to him. He picks him up by his shirt and slams him against fence. “I will teach you fuckers some manners. You will never refer to my woman like that,” whispers Nathan. He swings back and punches him the mouth.
The thin bastard head swings back into the fence. His lower lip splits and starts to bleed. Nathan throws him down the ground.
He turns to glare at the other hoods. They quickly drag Marcos and the thin bastard to the house.
Nathan looks over at Raul hiding behind the bushes. He looks him straight in the eyes. Nathan slightly nods his head.
Raul smiles at Nathan. He then stands, trembling from fear, and runs home.

My name is Patricia T. Macias. I was born in San Jose, California. I currently live in Sacramento, California with my family. I have three children and three grandchildren. I also enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. I love to read romance and paranormal.
I've always dreamed of writing and I'm extremely happy to be achieving my dream. I wanted to write since I was in elementary. My characters are my best friends. They're always talking and living in my mind and dreams. Writing is my passion.
I graduated from the University of Phoenix with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management Administration.
The De La Cruz Saga is an amazing emotional roller coaster ride of romance, suspense, and intense passion. Its steamy material is a little erotic. The stories are well written, full of Mexican traditions, and culture. Enjoy their explosively passionate nature. The saga is a twelve book series. I have five out and four more should be out by 2014.
I wrote my first series, the De La Cruz Saga, in one year. The saga has a subtle influence of Spanish and the Spanish becomes more laced (as the story progresses).
I write in the present tense because I believe it puts the reader "IN" the action, rather than as part of an "after thought". I believe it brings the characters to life!
This is my voice, my style. Dare to read the awesome De La Cruz Saga that's full of passion and suspense. Enjoy my latest and greatest new series, Razer 8. The new Razer 8 series is all about action, adventure, passion, and romance. The delta force operatives, Razer 8, made a promise to be united and linked for infinity. They have the infinity symbol tattoo.
"Good morning, Officers," says Commander Knight. He stands straight in front of the room. "I want to welcome you to the new Delta Force team. The name Razer was selected because you will be able to raze any entity, country, or structure in the world."
Commander Knight observes each team operative. He needs to register their commitment, excitement and aspiration.
"The agency believes each one of you will be the best operative in the world, in your field of expertise. Every single officer on this team was selected because of his outstanding skills, education, and physical condition. Each operative has a special talent or ability that will be honed to excellence. Each of you will undergo an extensive training that will take you high into the realms of the infinite power. Your training starts now!"
My latest and greatest goal is to write a Mexican Cook book. I hope you enjoy the recipes.

Elly in Bloom - Colleen Oakes

4+ Stars
Women's Fiction/Romance
Surrounded by lush flowers and neurotic brides, chubby 32-year old Elly Jordan has carved out a sweet little life for herself as the owner of Posies, a boutique wedding florist in St. Louis. It’s not bad for a woman who drove away from her entire life just two years ago when she found her husband entwined with a red-headed artist.

Sure, Elly has an embarrassingly beautiful best friend, a terribly behaved sheepdog and a sarcastic assistant who she simply calls “Snarky Teenager”, but overall her days are pleasantly uneventful. As a bonus, her new next door neighbor just happens to be an unnervingly handsome musician who has an eye for curvy Elly.

Just when she feels that she is finally moving on from her past, she discovers that an extravagant wedding contract, one that could change her financial future, is more than she bargained for.

With the help of her friends, staff and the occasional well-made sandwich, Elly bravely agrees to take on the event that threatens to merge her painful history with her bright new life, and finds herself blooming in a direction she never imagined.

Elly’s voice, both charming and hilarious, will appeal to those readers who have been looking for a new voice in chick-lit, and will give women of all sizes the realistic heroine they’ve been waiting for.

Cate Beauman’s newest best seller is available now through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  Visit for more information and to read excerpts from her romantic suspense series The Bodyguards of L.A. County.

When the past and present collide…

Wren Cooke has everything she’s ever wanted—a thriving career as one of LA’s top interior designers and a home she loves. Business trips, mockups, and her demanding clientele keep her busy, almost too busy to notice Ethan Cooke Security’s gorgeous Close Protection Agent, Tucker Campbell.

Jaded by love and relationships in general, Wren wants nothing to do with the hazel-eyed stunner and his heart-stopping grins, but Tucker is always in her way. When Wren suddenly finds herself bombarded by a mysterious man’s unwanted affections, she’s forced to turn to Tucker for help.

As Wren’s case turns from disturbing to deadly, Tucker whisks her away to his mountain home in Utah. Haunted by memories and long-ago tragedies, Tucker soon realizes his past and Wren’s present are colliding. With a killer on the loose and time running out, Tucker must discover a madman’s motives before Wren becomes his next victim.

The Unofficial Waiting For Wren Soundtrack

As I have discussed with previous book launches, music plays a huge part in my writing process. I typically listen to Pandora or YouTube and compile a collection of songs that I feel represent my characters or the situations they face as the novel unfolds.  Here are a few of the songs that I had on “repeat” while I created Tucker and Wren’s story!

The soundtrack, of sorts, for Waiting For Wren:

·         Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips
·         Lego House by Ed Sheeran
·         Wanted by Hunter Hayes
·         What Would Happen If We Kissed by Meredith Brooks
·         Trying Not to Love You by Nickelback
·         Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth Ft. Emeli Sande
·         I Hate How Much I Love You by Rhianna Ft. NeYo
·         Be Still by The Fray
·         All Along by Remedy Drive
·         Clarity by Zedd
·         Mirrors by Justin Timberlake
·         To Build A Home by Cinematic Orchestra

Read an excerpt from Waiting For Wren:

She pulled in her drive, dropped her phone, and gripped the wheel with trembling hands as heat from the vents rushed over her. She stared at her darkened front steps in the shadows cast about from the neighbors’ tall trees. What if he was here? His texts weren’t threatening, and technically neither were the flowers, but Rex wasn’t healthy. In the two years she’d owned her home, she’d never been terrified to get out of her car and go inside like she was now.
This is what he wants. He wants you to be afraid while he plays his games. Steeling herself, she grabbed her phone and got out with her key fob clutched in her unsteady hand. The cool rush of wind tossed her hair in her face, and she swiped wavy locks behind her ear as she strained to hear over the rustling leaves. She walked quickly, her eyes darting everywhere.
She just had to get to the door and step inside. The panic button was in the entryway if she needed it. The police would come help her, along with whoever was fielding calls at Ethan’s company tonight. “I’m almost there. I’m almost there,” she whispered, flinching, blinking, startled as the sensor lights flashed on to brighten the walkway. The security lights. It was just the security lights. She forgot she reactivated the feature the night of the gala. She took another step forward and saw the blood by the pretty pot of red mums. “Oh my god. Oh my god.” A black cat lay on her step, decapitated and bloated in a pool of dark, congealed crimson. “Oh my…”
Her breath rushed in and out as she stumbled back. The cellphone in her clammy hand rang, and she screamed. Blindly, she pressed “talk.” “Hell—hello?”
“Do you like it?” someone whispered.
She whirled, scanning, searching for Rex. He was here, somewhere. He had to be.
“Why won’t you call me?” The whisper turned into a pathetic whine. “Why won’t you call me, Wren?”
“Stop,” she shuddered out as she hurried to her car, looking over her shoulder from time to time, sure he was waiting to pounce. “Stop doing this. I’m calling the police.”
The whining stopped abruptly and turned into mad, riotous laughter. “They won’t believe you! They won’t believe you!”
“Leave me alone!” She hung up, gasping for air. Tears poured down her cheeks, and her hand shook as she opened her door, took her seat, and locked herself in. She had to get out of here. She had to get away. It took her two tries to shove the key in the ignition as she glanced at the bloodstained step once more and backed out with a squeal of tires. She sped off, heading toward Ethan’s until she remembered he was gone and a quarter of his house had been gutted for the new edition. All of them were gone—Ethan, Hunter, and Austin. She pressed ‘one’ on her speed dial, listening to the repetitive ringing. Ethan’s smooth voice told her to leave a message, but she hung up instead. She turned down another street, taking her farther from her home, and punched in Ethan Cooke Security’s twenty-four hour assistance line.
“Ethan Cooke Security. This is Mia.”
“Mia, it’s Wren.”
“Wren, are you okay?”
“Yes.” Her voice broke, and she shook her head as she clutched the wheel with one hand. “No. No, I’m not. There’s a dead cat on my porch.”
That didn’t exactly describe the horror she’d just backed away from. “Someone killed a cat and left it on my front step.”
“Oh my god. Where are you?”
“In my car.” She sniffed. “Driving around. I don’t want to go back to my house alone.”
“Of course not. Let me patch you through to Tucker Campbell. He’s on call.”
Tucker? “No, wait—” But it was too late. Soothing music played in her ear.
“Wren?” Tucker’s deep voice hummed with concern.
Her lip wobbled, and tears began to fall again. “Yeah, I’m here.”
“What’s going on? Mia said something about a dead cat?”
“Someone chopped some sweet cat’s head off and put the body on my front step.”
He muttered a swear. “Are you there now?”
“No, I’m in my car, driving around. It freaked me out. I don’t want to be at the house by myself.”
“I don’t want you there either. Come to my place until we get this figured out.”
If choking fingers of terror didn’t have her by the throat, she would’ve refused, but Tucker was offering his help. She needed help. “I don’t—I don’t know where you live.”

“The crazy bastard who left the dead cat on my porch.”
“Son of a bitch, Cooke. Don’t stop. Don’t’ pull over. Drive on a flat tire if you have to. Just get here. I’ll be waiting outside.”

Tempting Thursday!!

Woohoo Happy Tempting Thursday!
( a day late!)
Today I'm featuring SNOW DAZE by Katie Mettner!
This is a must read for all!!!

5 Stars
Trapped in an elevator with a handsome stranger is the perfect ‘meet-cute’, but Dr. Snow Daze has no interest in being the heroine of the next romance novel. Since her last ‘knight in shining armor’ turned into a nightmare, Snow hasn’t even looked at another man; one look into the alluring eyes of this stranger told her one thing, he was a guaranteed complication.

When Dully Alexander comes face to face with his very own snow angel he knows he will do anything to be her hero. With a good old fashioned Minnesota blizzard raging outside, a crackling fire inside, and whispered secrets on the couch, can Dully convince Snow she deserves her happily ever after?
